Noni Grace Returns

Have you ever lost one of your children? One of your sons? How do you cope with such a loss?
.
I know that he is safe in God’s hands, but that doesn’t make the loss any easier. Everywhere I look I see reminders of Danny. Even this computer desk with its sliding board that holds the keyboard and mouse was made by him. My recipe holder, a clothes peg mounted on a stand, was the first thing he made for me, when he was 8 or 9 years old. I still use it!
.
He was a cabinet maker, a Mr. Fix-it, a mechanic, but so much more. He was an artist with a great talent. He was a son, a husband, a father and a grandfather… an all round great guy. I hope he is still with us, even though we can’t see him. He knows how much we all loved him. I wonder if he has a motorcycle up there in the sky?
.
There is a big hole in my heart, so I try to keep as busy as I can. Drawing and painting… making hasti-notes and greeting cards to sell in an upcoming bazaar. Wish you could all drop by.
.
I’ve missed the friends I made on here, so decided to post something once in a while. I hope you will be glad to see me back. Drop by for a cup of tea!

  1. Hi, Norma….it is so wonderful to see a post from you. There is no pain deeper than that from the loss of a child. And, no matter how old our sons might be, they are always our children. Your tribute is beautiful.
You’ve always remained close by in my thoughts.
    Hugs,
    Heather

  2. Hi Norma,
I am so sorry to hear about Danny. I feel like I knew him from all the wonderful stories you have told about him. He was an extremely talented person in so many areas. I remember the beautiful cabinet he had made that was in your dining room.
My heart goes out to you and your family.
    love, Norma

  3. Norma, have just spent the last hour searching the internet to see if there were any postings about you or Dan, I am so sorry to read this and my heart goes out to you and your family. It is so hard to lose a child, and I know it hurts so much, I lost my son when he was 10 (30 years ago and it still hurts).

    Big Hugs
    Lynda

  4. Oh Norma, I am so sorry to hear about Danny. It broke my heart to read this blog entry this morning. Stay busy … I am sending my most positive thoughts to you right now.

My heart goes out to you and your family in this very tough time!!

    Love Phil

  5. Norma I’m so sorry to hear about Danny. It must be hard to loose a child. He is in Gods hands and I’m sure he has a motorcycle in heaven. I remember Danny from when we all use to live on Muirfield Drive and the fun we use to all have playing on the big rocks (our horse and stage coach) behind our place. Glad to hear that you will be posting once in awhile as I missed your blog.

  6. Auntie Norma,
I have seem firsthand the toll the loss of a child takes on a parent. I have also seen the light come back into someones eyes when a memory is shared. The pain subsides and thank goodness the memories persist. As long as we talk about Danny he is always with us. You raised an outstanding man and a kind man and I am grateful for every memory I have .
    See you soon
    Kallie

  7. I am so pleased to see you all again and your comments are really appreciated. Maybe I should put the kettle on and we could all join in having that cup of tea. Good idea?

That bazaar isn’t until the 30th of November. In the morning it will be over in the manor, 10 to 11:30, and in the afternoon here in Evergreen Heights, 1:30 to 3:00. All are welcome. I would be especially happy to see Lynda and her Mom, neighbors from years ago.

THE ADDRESS for the Heights is 1501 Everall Street, White Rock.

  8. My heart goes out to you. Grave illness of a child, who survived, and loss of two brothers is as close to knowing your experience as I’ve come. Remember those moments he made you smile.

  9. Thanks Heather. I do appreciate the love, hugs and prayers. I need as many of those as I can get! I’ll put the kettle on.

  10. Extra love, hugs and prayers coming from my direction, too. I’m glad you decided to post about this — in addition to family, your cyber friends are always here to support you, too.

    • Thanks Carol. Yesterday was difficult for me, more than some of the other days because it was a month ago that Danny “moved on up.” So it seemed like the right time to do something about it. And… all the time that I was away from the blog, friends kept coming by every day. I thought I owed them something. Time for tea? The kettle is on.
