Cape Breton Island

Cape Breton Island.

We were in such a hurry to get to Cheticamp and the whale sighting trip, that I forgot to mention the causeway.

The Canso Causeway, which allows travelers to go from mainland Nova Scotia to Port Hawkesbury on the island side.

imagesFrom Whale watching we ended up in Baddeck, where we stayed for three days, using it as a base for the side trips we made.

We were going to travel the Cabot trail! We had them make picnic lunches for each of us, and we headed out. You had to check in to a government place before entering the cabot trail.. they said it was fogged in and too dangerous for us to travel unless it  was very important that we go. No, we didn’t have to go. So we decided to have our lunch… sitting in the car as the black flies were hungry and would take bites out of anyone that stepped outside.

I was grateful that we could not go on the Cabot trail. I had heard it was a dangerous road, and that was enough for me… no way did I want to go where there was known danger.

The Alexander Graham Bell museum was another place of interest that we enjoyed. There were many places where crafts were shown and they were for sale.

It was time for us to move on again… so a good place to wind up this narrative.
